Molecular identification of sharks and rays species from Aceh waters, Indonesia

Shark is a cartilaginous fish that widely hunted because it has high economic value. The waters of Aceh are directly adjacent to the Indian Ocean and Malacca Strait making preferred habitat for pelagic fish, especially sharks. Information on shark species landed in west east very limited due difficulties identification commonly used local names. This study aimed determine types sharks Banda Aceh, Meulaboh, Langsa, Southwest Simeulu find out specifically what most often waters. Primary data gathering consisted four stages, namely sample collection, using books, molecular cytochrome oxidase subunit I (COI) phylogenetic analysis. results analysis 46 tissue samples from five locations identified 13 sharks, Carcharhinhus sorrah, amboinensis, Triaenodon obesus, Isurus oxyrinchus, Sphyrna zygaena, lewini, Loxodon macrorhinus, Hemipristis elongaria, Stagostoma fasciatum, Nebrius ferrugineus, Chilloscyllium punctatum, Alopias pelagicus, supercillosus 1 rays, Rhynchobatus australiae. Phylogenetic tree reconstruction Neighbor Joining method 610 basepairs consisting two large clades separates pelagicus oxyrichus with Carcharhinus macrorhinus Rhyncobatus australiae boostrap values 87% 64%. haplotype diversity shown ranged 0.667-0.889 while nucleotide 0.001-0.097.
